It was rainy, humid and a Friday night, but the Colayco Pavilion was brimming with people who wanted to watch and support their organizations in CADs’ RiB Eliminations yesterday, September 11.
The event started off with a short, entertaining spiel from CADs’s very own T3, comprised of Reflex Castillo, Phill Pamintuan and Timmy Nolan. The boys introduced the orgs, gave a brief background on the competition, read out the criteria and introduced the judges: CADs President Roanna Medina, Externals Vice President Cy Belarmino and the newly taken Steff Someda. This was followed by the entrance of AMS that kicked off the competition proper. Each of the 18 orgs did their thing, did their best and ruled the dance floor in their 3 minutes.
When the last org, AIESEC, was done dancing, T3 invited one representative from each of the participating orgs for a little freestyle battle while waiting for the judges’ decisions. The representatives were divided into two groups led by Phill and Timmy. They gave all they got, but Group 1 emerged as the winner (via most cheers) with their awesome showcase of flexibility.
After the battle, the list of the ten orgs who made it to the finals was read out (in no particular order): ACOMM, AEA, AJMA, AtSCA, BOx, Gabay, MECO, MEA, MISA and YFC-Ateneo. These orgs are going onto the Henry Lee Irwin Theatre stage on the 25th of September to finally really compete for the grand prize.
