Ninjas from Ateneo Resident Students Association (ARSA) whisked away the first prize in "Rhythm-in-Blue: Culture Shock" on September 22, 2010, Wednesday. Mimes of SPEED (Ateneo Special Education Society) and soldiers of PMSA (Pre-Medical Society of the Ateneo) were first and second runners-up, respectively.
ARSA and SPEED also won the "Crowd Pleaser" and "Best Mix" awards, respectively, while Ateneo Biological Organization (BOx) brought home the "Best Costume" award.
A total of ten teams battled it out in Henry Lee Irwin Theater, showcasing dance pieces inspired by cultures of other countries: Africa, Egypt, France, India, Japan, Korea, and Spain. A full hour went on with señors, señoritas, belly dancing, Tutting, fan dancing, and peace signs, punctuated by an African inspired number by Ateneo Dancesport Club and a comical dance by Dollhouse.
CADs performers took their turn on the dance floor in the second act. Jazz and street newbies debuted with their own special numbers, performing with reauditionees and CADs alumni. CADs Streeters performed the piece for Groove Philippines (where they won second runner-up), while Jazzers were a vision in red with their MaxGroove contemporary dance. Both teams also performed their dances during Orsem 2010.
Freebies from our sponsors were given out to members of the audience who participated in the freestyle showdown before the announcement of the winners.
Fr. Ben Nebres, Ateneo's longest-serving president, graced the concert with his presence.
